We’re in the middle of an animal research project so we hit up the library in search of more books about animals! We found some really good ones!

My oldest daughter is doing an animal research project about her favorite animal—horses. Of course her little sister want to do it too! My youngest’s favorite animal is the giraffe. She does the paintings and I help her with the writing a.k.a. I do the writing 🤪. She’s only four.

I’ve kind of put writing on the back burner in our homeschooling. We’ve done handwriting… and that’s basically it. Well, she’s written sentences here and there in Five in a Row but we haven’t done any hardcore writing. I’ve had this idea to create a book about their favorite animal. The books have been sitting on my shelf but I don’t think I’ve had the mental capacity to organize the project until now.

The snow is finally here! Yay! I’m not sure how I feel about it. It’s cold, and icy, and I wear my winter coat 24/7. You never know what kind of winter you’re gonna get.

The holiday season has started! I thought I was ahead at getting Halloween costumes and Halloween books… in September.

I told Jake, “I won’t be gone that long.” And then I was home four hours later. I stopped at Goodwill to “quickly” look for a few things.

We’ve had a late start to fall. It’s almost the end of September and the leaves are finally starting to change color and drop. I’ve busted out our “go to” fall books and picked up some newbies at the library.

One of the best ways for young kids to become excellent readers is to do read alouds! Through read alouds children build better language skills and vocabulary because they are being exposed to more words.

Little kids often times have big feelings and sometimes those feelings are difficult to manage. I love using children’s picture books to teach kids how to regulate their emotions and how to appropriately interact with people, especially in difficult situations
