K-2 Children’s Chapter Books Read Aloud
One of the best ways for young kids to become excellent readers is to do read alouds! Through read alouds children build better language skills and vocabulary because they are being exposed to more words. The more words children understand the better their comprehension skills will become. I absolutely love to do read alouds and am completely obsessed with children’s literature.
We’ve really enjoyed reading these chapter books! Sometimes it is an afternoon read aloud and sometimes we read chapter books as a bedtime story. Emme loved Charlotte in Charlotte’s Web. Both girls enjoyed the adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh. Violet often sings “tiddely pom, tiddely pom”. In Paddington, I thought it was weird no one found a talking bear living with humans strange. I have since learned Paddington is a story of immigration and arriving in an unfamiliar place, then trying to fit in.
Here are some great chapter book read alouds for early primary grades (K-2).
