Photo Log: A Weekend in Our Life
I used to vlog… I still want to, but I didn’t like putting my kids on the internet. I felt weird about it so I stopped. I’m hoping to get back into it again so I can have the videos for my own personal memories though. In the meantime I thought this would be fun to capture a “day in the life” via pictures.
I recently purchased a 2010 point and shoot camera because I love the nostalgia and the look of older photos. The shutter is so loud 😂 and it takes forever to focus. Photos are blurry when the flash is off. It brings back so many memories. I broke so many of these cameras back in the day, just by accidentally dropping it. I’m a lot more careful, mainly cause I’m not drunk like I used to be.. all the time in college. So many years ago. I’m not that old but here is a weekend in our life with my point and shoot camera from the early 2000s. 😁

One day I will wake up before my kiddos. That day was not today. I usually make a coffee—americano (sometimes with cinnamon) and then sit on the couch. I found vintage mugs made by Hallmark called ‘mug mates’. They’re adorbs. I love them. They’re small though and I always spill my coffee on my bathrobe. 🤷🏻♀️
I like to empty the dishwasher first thing in the morning. Emme and Violet put the silverware away. It’s their chore. They think it’s fun for now. They haven’t realized what’s really going on—it’s home management, work. They won’t like ten years from now. I’m well aware. But the worst is a a full sink of dishes so it must be done.
The girls like to play for a bit after they’ve had breakfast and they’ve done their other morning responsibilities (get dressed, bathroom, etc.). I’ll usually “get dressed” (I’m working on it). It’s some version of sweatpants. *gasp* I know, I never thought I’d be that mom but here I am. I’m hoping things change this year.
A friend invited us to meet them at the nature center for a toddler hike and it was so nice out! She wanted to carry her snacks in her purse. I’m all for it.
After the nature center we went to the park.

I hit a major wall. If you’ve ever been a teacher and taken kids on a field trip, it’s so painful to have to go back to school and continue the day because you are so flipping tired. The amount of energy that is exhausted on a field trip… field trip days should be half days and I basically took my kids on a half day field trip. I was so tired. I didn’t do anything the rest of the day.

The next day, Emme has basketball practice in the morning. This was our first season trying out basketball. She seems to like it and has a lot of fun at practice.
Later that afternoon, we took the kids to my parent’s house for a sleepover. Then Jake and I went to the Great Alaska Aviation Gathering. This particular plane is Carbon Cub experimental plane that is won through the raffle. We haven’t won yet.
We went to Bleeding Heart Brewery. I got a pale ale.. or maybe it was a pilsner. I don’t remember. Jake’s may have been an IPA. We had one drink here before we went home to make dinner.
Jake made some really good chicken tacos. They were super filling. I could only eat two of the three tacos he made me.
At the end of the evening we decided to go see Guardians of the Galaxy in IMAX. Jake had never been to an IMAX movie until this moment. The movie was okay. I think they other Guardians of the Galaxy movies were better.
The girls hadn’t stayed the night at their grandparent’s in a bit so it was nice for them to spend time together and for Jake and I to get out and do something together. It’s hard to manage time with everyone, for sure. It ended up being a fun weekend though!
