Thrifted Kitchen Items

We started a 3 year, 5 year? kitchen remodel—if that’s what you want to call it. We spent the summer and stripped the paint, sanded, and stained the upper cabinets. The lower cabinets are for future summers. It’s a small kitchen with no pantry. There’s a lower corner cabinet I despise. If I can avoid getting into that corner cabinet, I will.

I am obsessed with Butter Wakefield’s home and kitchen. Same with Sean Pritchard. Funny how they are both gardeners and so am I! Anyways, that’s neither here nor there. They live in the UK so their homes are very English, cottage, cluttered, organized, colorful, and full of vintage treasures and memories.

Their homes have become my inspo. I love pretty things. I love thrifted things. And I love nostalgia. I was so excited to find the ceramics and wood bowls for our kitchen! Take a peek!

THRIFTED KITCHEN ITEMS

1. pedestal bowl

My fruit bowl was overflowing so I needed something extra. This ceramic pedestal bowl was made in Thailand but it has delft vibes and that’s why I love it. It holds our lemons and limes. I like to drink warm lemon water or add a slice of lemon to filtered water. We love limes with tacos and gin and tonics. We’re running low but they’re on the grocery list!

2. cookie jar

We LOVE this cookie recipe! They are what the title claims—the best cookie recipe ever. However our best cookies ever were getting stale. Believe it or not, cute cookie jars are hard to come by around here! Most that I’ve come across are holiday jars or gaudy lookin’. I found this baby for $4.99.

3. wood bowls

Wood bowls are hard to come by and for some reason, they cost a million dollars retail. I found these two on separate thrifting trips. I used to keep our potatoes and onions in a plastic bin in the cupboard but we reorganized and they’ve been floating around our kitchen countertops. One of these bowls in now home to them.

4. vintage single cup tea pot

I saw this tea pot and I was instantly in love. The purple and blue speckles are so stinking cute. I can’t read the mark on it so it’s hard to tell where it came from. It’s definitely vintage and may have come from an American Greetings or Hallkmark type store. Let me know if you know where it’s from! It fits my single cup tea basket 👌🏻.

5. African wood salad serving spoon and fork

These are hand carved African fork and spoon salad utensils. I found them for $3.99 each. Kind of lame they weren’t sold together but I’ve been looking for salad utensils and these spoke to me.

6. wood fruit bowl

This was my first ginormous wood bowl find! We had been using a mixing bowl to store fruit but it was honestly annoying. We were either a mixing bowl down or fruit was all over the counter when we needed to use the mixing bowl. I think I found it for around ten bucks. A little much if you ask me, but it’s been working great for us!

7. cast iron trivet

I found a cast iron trivet a long time ago and wished I had picked it up! I finally found another. I like the cast iron because they can withstand heat and they are raised. I have a pair of handmade fabric trivets made by my mother-in-law but I worry they’ll burn if it gets too hot.

8. crock

I’ve seen some huge crocks at antique stores and they cost a pretty penny. I didn’t realize they were so pricey! This particular crock isn’t marked so I am not sure the history or how old it is. I think I spent maybe five dollars on this guy.

8. small pottery bowl

This is a studio pottery bowl made in Alaska. It has a small chip but that didn’t bother me. I use it to store our scrub brush. I saw a picture of someone who did this and I thought it was the perfect solution to hiding our scrubbie and all the grime it leaves behind. Why didn’t I think of this myself??
