The Thrift Haul with the Replacements
I went on a “quick” thrift trip that accidentally lasted four hours and two thrift stores. I was meaning to run some errands and pop in to look for a few things. But then I found so many lovely goodies, I wondered if the other thrift store would be good to me as well. It was. Some of these items I’ve been on the look out for and others were lucky finds.
1. ceramic coffee cups
Something weird is happening. All my cups are getting broken. We had a drinking glass completely shatter in the cabinet. Then two of my coffee cups got chipped on the rims. They were cute little vintage mug mate cups I adored. I was so sad. I’ve been on the lookout for others but have not found any. However, I came across these little guys. I thought the mom cup was funny and the bear one reminded me of my mug mates.
2. children’s picture books
I lub (a.k.a. love, my daughter used to say “lub boo” for I love you when she was a wee babe and it stuck) me some good children’s picture books. E is really into drawing so I was super excited to find It’s Fun to Draw Fairies and Mermaids. Other books I grabbed were
Thumbelina by Hans Christian Andersen
I Picked a Flower by Sharon Lerner
I am in Charge of Celebrations by Byrd Baylor
Fingerprint Book by Ed Emberley
The Missing Piece Meets the Big O by Shel Silverstein
3. vintage Lenox Temper Ware bowl
I scoured the shelves looking for more of these dishes. I love them so much. I thrifted the pattern Merriment. Bought some more to complete a set off Mercari. Brought this dish home so it wasn’t lonely but I so wish I found more pieces that day.
4. miniature ornaments
A happy accident occurred. Over the years I’ve been thrifting Christmas ornaments. They all happen to be miniature or small. Last year I was obsessed with my tree and couldn’t stop looking at all the tiny ornaments. I loved them so much. I found these mini bears to add to the tree this year!
5. wicker basket
I can’t get down with a lot of recycle bins because they look ugly. I’ve been looking for a basket to serve as a recycle bin for our art room playroom. I finally found one!
