The Best Airplane Snacks for Kids
We recently went on a trip to visit my in-laws in Hawaii. It’s about a six hour flight. I knew the more snacks the better. It’s the worst when you have kids complaining about being hungry and you ran out of snacks. Trust me, I’ve been there.
I’m not gonna lie… I think my kids’ airplane snack bags are pretty bomb dot com. Over the last few trips we’ve been on, I’ve created a spreadsheet to help me remember all the snacks I need to get for the flight. I’ve done google research and asked friends what they bring on the airplane for their kids’ snacks. I’ve gathered some really good suggestions that I didn’t even think about! Keep in mind the food your kids actually eat. These are just ideas incase you forgot of something or need a little extra.
Happy travels!
HOW TO PREPARE AIRPLANE SNACK BAGS
To organize your snacks, find some kind of large bag that closes. Use a gallon sized ziploc bag like we did or some kind of pouch that closes. I’d prefer a reusable bag but I like that it’s easy to see through a ziploc bag. It makes it easier to pick out the snacks so they are not digging around making a bigger mess. You also want some smaller snack bags for snacks that don’t come pre-packaged.
I personally do not think this is the best time to test out new snacks. My kids are picky eaters and they would be highly disappointed if they didn’t have their regular snacks. I’d also be highly irritated because they’d be saying, “I’m hungry,” the entire time. No bueno. But you know your kid so if they love the surprise and trying new things then go for it!
I’ve also started to make two snack bags per child. One goes in the carry on. The other goes in the suitcase for the flight back. The snack bag that goes in the suitcase only has non-perishables. I’ll add perishables closer to when it’s time to fly back home.
