Thoughts while reading
Whoa.. didn’t see that coming! Jocelyn was married to the leader of The Circle. Cray.
I feel bad for Simon… poor guy. He likes Clary but she doesn’t like him back the same way.
I thought Clary’s dad was going to be some huge secret, like he wasn’t actually dead and he was some magic dude but it turns out it’s her mother! Okay, I was right. Her dad is some magic dude and he isn’t actually dead!
Oookay… which kid is Valentine the father? Jace or Clary? Can’t be both. They made out. That’s totes awkward. Someone is lying!!
Review
I had no intention of continuing this series until I found out that Jace and Clary are brother and sister and they kissed earlier in the book. I had to google to make sure I was remembering correctly. In doing so, I came across a forum that laid out Jace’s history—so maybe they aren’t related? Now I need to know how this goes down. Otherwise this book was a very quick read. The writing wasn’t anything special. It was very reminiscent of the Twilight series. So much so I found it funny the author of Twlight, Stephenie Meyer, was quoted on the cover of City of Bones. There isn’t much to say about this book. There’s betrayal, deceit, and lies. The characters are trying to figure out who they are since they’ve been told false stories throughout their lives.
